Cedrus libani, or Cedar of lebanon is a majestic conifer, which as its name suggests, originates from Lebanon. The crown of this tree is conic when young and it can grow in height (forty metres maximum) for up to 70 years. In adulthood, it becomes broadly tubular with fairly level branches and is decorated with long flat-topped erected cones. The trunk is powerful, with bark that is dark grey and crackled, and its branches are long, yellowish grey, glabrous or slightly pubescent with short tufts of leaves. It is a hardy tree that is well adapted and with an exceptional longevity of up to 2000 years.[1]
