Foods that tonify the spleen refers the energetic properties of food. A poorly functioning spleen can affect one's digestion. Foods that help to tonify the spleen include:

  • Fruits such as apples, cherries, dates, lotus fruit, seed and root, pineapples
  • Vegetables such as carrots, cucumbers, chick peas, garlic, leeks, onions, parsnips, pumpkin, rutabaga, squash, sweet potato, turnip, yams
