Most herbs that can be taken internally can be used on the skin in the form of ointments, creams, salves and lotions. The common herbs that are used externally include: Arnica, Calendula, Chickweed, Comfrey Root, Cucumber, Elder Flower, Golden Seal, Greater Plantain, Lady's Mantle, Marigold Flower, Marshmallow Root, Slipper Elm Bark, Woundwort and Yarrow.[1]
