Potency refers to the number of times that a preparation has undergone dilution and succession (shaking). Potencies are typicaly recorded by an x or c scale, depending on whether the dilution was 1:9 or 1:99, respectively. The higher the potency, the more frequently a substance has been diluted.

Chemically, remedies beyond the 12c or 24x strength contain no more atoms or molecules of the original substance. They are purely energy medicine. [1]
