Homeopathic Ruta is useful mainly in rheumatic and connective tissue problems. It is a very important remedy for the treatment of injuries and trauma.[1]

Indications
The following are the main indications for Ruta.[2], [3]
Acute Conditions
- Sprains and Strains or pulls that affect the ligaments or tendons, cartilage and bone injury. Stiffness and bruised, aching soreness. Affinity to knee, wrist, neck, low back, hip. Nodules, deposits in tendons, joints. Weakened ligaments, joints. Weariness, heaviness after rest, lameness. Easy dislocation and sprain. {Give after Arnica.}
- Bruises to areas where bones are covered thinly by skin (elbow, shins, ankles), wrist, knee, spine. Bruises during dislocations, sprains, fractures, joint, cartilage or bone covering (periosteum) injury. Sore, bruised, aching sensations, restless. Inflammation after bruise.
Chronic and Constitutional Conditions
- Wrist Conditions such as Arthritis, Ganglion, Repetitive Strain or Sprain, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Stiff, sore, aching pain, as if bruised. Nodules, deposits in tendons and joints. Weak, lame joint, feels as if broken. Stiff, cracking. Great restlessness.
Other common conditions: Eye inflammation (from strain), Fibromyalgia, Knee conditions (including Bursitis), Tendonitis, Low Back Pain
Characteristics
- Triggers: injuries to tendons, ligaments, joints, bone, chronic overuse or frequent injuries
- General: arthritic-like pains where all parts of the body feel stiff, bruised and weak, easily fatigued especially after overexertion
- Worse: overuse of the eyes, cold and damp weather
- Better: lying on the back, warmth, motion
- Psychological: anxious from becoming overheated, dissatisfied, quarrelsome.
- Other symptoms: flu in which the whole body feels stiff and bruised
