Yin Tonics refer the energetic properties of food. Any condition involving yin deficiency or weakness is often treated with yin tonics. Foods that are known to tonify yin include:

  • Fruits such as apple, apricots, bananas, blackberry, blueberry, cantaloupe, dates, lychee, mango, pear, pineapple, pomegranate, raspberries, lemon, star fruit, watermelon
  • Vegetables such as asparagus, beets, cucumber, peas, spinach, tomato, yam
  • Grains such as barley, millet, malt, quinoa, rice
  • Beans and legumes such as blackbeans, mung beans, green beans, kidney bean, string bean, tofu
  • Sweeteners such as brown sugar, honey, royal jelly
  • Dairy such as cheese, coconut milk, eggs, milk
  • Seafood such as clam, crab, cuttlefish, oyster, shrimp
  • Meat such as duck, pork, rabbit
