Graphites is a remedy associated with unhealthy skin. It is suited mostly for females, particularly those inclined to obesity, with skin conditions and constipation.

Indications

The following are the main indications for Graphites.[1]

  • Eczema especially in the folds such as the elbow crease, behind the knees, under the breasts, and on the lids. The skin is generally unhealthy with conditions that fester, while wounds leave hard cicatrices. Eczema behind the ears.
  • Obesity associated with improper nutrition.
  • Hypomenorrhea in which the menstrual flow is delayed and scanty.
  • Eye Conditions: Blepharitis associated with thickening of the eyelids, particularly along the edges, and covered with scales. Hardened styes may appear on the edges of the lids. Eyelid red and swollen. eczema of the eyelids.

Other common conditions: erysipelas, nails grow thick/cracked/out of shape, constipation, diarrhea in children

Characteristics

  • Triggers: music makes her weep
  • General: cold, tendency to have rush of blood to the face, rough/harsh/dry skin with little tendency to sweat
  • Worse: with warmth, at night, during and after menstruation, constipation, nausea and vomiting after meals
  • Better: in the dark, from wrapping up
  • Psychological: sad and inclined to weep, thinks of nothing but death, anxious, apprehensive state of mind
  • Other symptoms: eruption on the skin oozing out a thick, honey-like fluid, sensation of cobweb on forehead
  • Food and Drink: worse hot drinks.
