The following are the main indications for Ignatia.[2], [3]
Acute Conditions
- Grief and emotional crisis. Silent grieving or outbursts. Mild and delicate nature; idealistic, overly responsible, with a sense of guilt. Easily offended. Spasms, twitches, tics. Sighing, sobs, quivering lips. Lump in throat. Hypersensitive to pain. Nervous, hysterical, excitable. Strange symptoms.
- Depression, idealistic, romanticist, responsible. Self-reproach, shame. Silent grief. Alternating moods; weeping, laughter, rage. Cramps, twitches, spasms. Irritable, worse from consolation. Sensitive to touch, tobacco, coffee. Held back emotions; sighing, sobbing, lump in the throat, bites the lip.
Children and Adolescents
- Colic in infants who are being breastfed by a mother who is experiencing intense grief or other emotional upset.
Other common conditions: Headache, Cough (spasmodic), Drug detox (psychoactive drugs, tranquilizers, antidepressants etc.), Insomnia (especially from grief), Tobacco detox
Characteristics
- Triggers: acute loss, grief, broken heart, shock, fright, upsets, anger
- General: sense of grief, either acutely or chronically, alternating moods, frequent sighing, aversion to consolation
- Worse: in the morning, open air, after meals, coffee, tobacco, eating sweets, liquids, external warmth
- Better: deep breathing, while eating, change of position, traveling
- Psychological: defensive and easily offended, high-strung and emotionally reactive, says or does the opposite of what you would expect
- Other symptoms: throat pain lessened by swallowing, sensation of lump in the throat especially after grief, feeling of pressure or tightness in the chest, symptoms that are just the opposite of what you would expect, back spasms, perspire primarily only on the face
- Food and drink: strong desire for or dislike of fruit, desire for chesse
