Indications
The following are the main indications for Kali bichromicum.[1]
- Affections of any mucous membrane with discharges of tough, stringy, adherent mucous, which can characteristically be drawn out into long strings. Also associated with ulcerations of the mucous membranes which are deep, with punched-out edges
- Sinusitis
- Hacking cough with profuse, yellow expectoration, very glutinous and sticky discharge.
- Rheumatism alternating with dysentry or diarrhea.
- Nephritis associated with gastric disturbances.
- Gastric or duodenal ulcers with pain relieved by eating

Characteristics
- Triggers: change to hot weather
- General: jelly-like mucous on mucous membranes, pains in small spots which shift quickly from place to place, catarrh of any part, discharge is thick, ropy and greenish-yellow in colour, blindness before headache
- Worse: in the morning, chilly, undressing
- Better: with warm drinks, with heat, with eating
- Psychological: sad or gloomy, mistrusting, irritable, absentminded
- Other symptoms: migratory pains, erratic or wandering pains
- Food and drink: worse with beer
