Malus sylvestris or Crab apple, is one of the oldest fruit trees in the world and can live up to 250 years. It gives a very poor apple in terms of size and quality, but it ripens at the end of early July. The tree itself is small with roots that break like glass. Its buds and sap however, are rich in valuable properties.[1]
